Tim and I are both Waitaki Old Boys, and we’ve been lucky to stay in touch since school.

Over the years we’ve had a lot of fun, shared opportunities, and backed each other through the ups and downs.

One day Tim gave me a call and said he was keen to give something back to the school, and asked if I wanted to join the Old Boys with him. Like most things we’ve done together, it sounded like a good idea — and a good excuse to reconnect with people.

When we looked into it, and through conversations with my uncle Ian, we found the Old Boys Association had been wound up due to a lack of activity. It felt like something valuable had quietly disappeared.

So instead of just joining, we decided to rebuild it — in a way that actually works.

We looked at what other networks were doing, spoke to Old Boys about what they’d actually use, and pulled together the best parts into something simple and practical.

This network is the result of that — and it only works with the people in it.

We really appreciate everyone who’s getting involved early. Like most good things in life, it’s better when it’s shared — and there’s nothing quite like old connections and a bit of shared history.
